Description
Depicting one of Australia’s most beloved animals, the Australian Koala silver coins pay tribute to the country's rich wildlife.
Struck from 99.99% pure silver, the 2023 Koala is available in one-kilogram and one-ounce sizes. Each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The reverse of each coin portrays a koala climbing a tree with a dependent young 'joey' clinging to its back for security. The inscription ‘KOALA’, the Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, the 2023 year-date, and the weight and purity are also included in the design. The obverse side bears the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
