Description
For the first 100 years of Confederation, the story of Canada was shaped by our efforts to bridge distances and come together by means of different transportation—first by rail, then by sea, and finally, by air. This is the story that unfolds across the three coins in Royal Canadian Mint's 2021, The First 100 Years of Confederation series. Each coin features a different history maker and a design that channels the spirit of the era through its perfect blend of art, history and industry.
Canada Takes Wing is the third piece in this series. This coin takes to the skies and highlights Canada’s active role on the world stage during the post war years (1945-1967). The reverse features a Canadian built de Havilland DHC 2 Beaver aircraft that symbolizes the era in which Canada championed peace and celebrated its centennial.
This special piece has a multi-effigy obverse feautring the effigies of five monarchs who served Canada's constitutional head of state between 1867 and 1967, and whose combined reigns span a century of change. Each coin includes a serialized certificate and is individually encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded clamshell with a black beauty box.
With a limited worldwide mintage of 1,250 pieces, this coin is a rare treasure. Secure this gorgeous piece that tells a powerful story through captivating art, buy yours today!
